Imagined Dialogs...As a Preparation for Real Conversations And/Or As a Means of Feeling Less Fucking Alone
A One Act Play about Loneliness
Louisa is a writer on a retreat when her live-in boyfriend of two years calls to let her know that he's fallen in love with someone else. Instead of feeling those feelings, she pivots to obsessing over another writer on the retreat. Sitting alone in her cabin, she writes scenes in which she tells the other writer how she feels, and he tells her he doesn't feel the same.
The scenes that Louisa writes come alive onstage as she writes and edits them. Eventually, she begins to write scenes about her ex as well. It's clear that she cannot address the fact that she is simply alone.
